Avtec and Trident Announce Development of Digital Trunked Radio Interface

Features to include Workforce Safety and Efficient Operations

GILBERT, SC – October 19, 2005 – Avtec, Inc., in conjunction with Trident Micro Systems (Arden, NC) announced today the two companies are collaborating to build an interface between Trident´s NTS networked trunking infrastructure and Avtec´s DSPatch™ and DSPatchNET™ console communications systems. The digital interface is based on Trident´s PassPort™ technology – an advanced trunking protocol for radio systems. The interface will be available in first quarter 2006. The announcement came during the 2005 Enterprise Wireless show October 18-20 in Nashville, TN. Avtec is exhibiting in booth #205; Trident is exhibiting in booth #203.

“Turnkey mobile communications systems are becoming increasingly important to our customers,” says Michael Ridge, Avtec Inc.´s product marketing manager. “Developing a key relationship with Trident enables us to keep our focus on what we do best – dispatch console systems that never fail – and provide a complete solution for our customers in the transportation, military, public safety, and energy industries. Trident has a good product, good reputation, and close geographic proximity – all of which make for a great working relationship.”

“The interface will enable Avtec´s and Trident´s customers to take advantage of convenient features such as issuing emergency calls and making selective calls,” says Rhett Grotzinger, Trident´s vice president of sales and marketing. “By combining Avtec´s and Trident´s capabilities, we can provide a top quality console solution that is highly customizable.”

The interface will provide customers:

Access to all user ANI data, similar to caller i.d. for mobile radios

Selective calling features, such as the ability to set up one-to-one radio calling

Emergency call-in information, including one-touch priority calling

Ease of operations, by offering features such as the ability of users to set up “talk groups” and connection simplicity for dispatch operators

Decreased usage of RF spectrum, since organizations do not have to license as many radio channels. The interface is available as an add-on option for existing and new DSPatch, DSPatchNET, and Passport customers.
